Warm solid wood interior with long table and seating

ABOUT MUYE

A workshop that grew
into a way of living.

Founded in 2013 in a courtyard workshop in Nanshan, Chongqing. Today we create crafted objects, furnishings and spatial pieces in our own Bishan workshop.

OUR STORY

It started with a small
woodworking shop.

In 2013, MUYE began as a small workshop in a farm courtyard in Nanshan, Chongqing. The work was simple: make honest, useful pieces for ordinary homes, at a price those homes could actually afford, without pretending the material was something else.

More than a decade later the workshop has moved four times. It is now a factory in Bishan, Chongqing, with a team of about one hundred people, and showrooms in five cities. The work has widened from individual furniture to storage, timber screens and complete spatial woodwork — while the showrooms have grown into a broader naturalist world of rugs, ceramics, fibre, stone, light and collected objects.

We draw, machine, join, finish and install our own solid-wood work. Complementary living objects are curated through the same material point of view, and are presented as selected pieces rather than as products of our wood workshop.

WHAT WE MAKE & CURATE

One home,
many material layers.

MUYE woodwork gives the room its structure. Our living collection adds rugs, ceramics, rattan, stone, linen, lighting and metal objects so that the space can be experienced as a complete home rather than a furniture catalogue.

Objects & small furnishings

Low tables, chairs, benches, stools, sofas, beds, sideboards and shelving — pieces close to the body and daily ritual.

Custom cabinetry

Entry, living, dining, bedroom, study, kitchen, balcony and bathroom. Drawn to the room rather than cut down to fit it.

Doors & partitions

Single and double doors, sliding, barn, folding and concealed doors, fixed and opening windows, screens, stair handrails and wall panelling.

Spatial woodwork

Ceiling and wall timber, built-in seating, under-stair and irregular spaces — the parts that make a room feel finished.

HOW WE WORK

Three ideas we
keep coming back to.

They are not slogans. They decide what gets built, what gets rejected, and what a client is told when the honest answer is inconvenient.

真

AUTHENTIC MATERIAL

Solid wood, stated as it is. No veneer described as solid, no engineered board hidden behind a wood name. If a piece uses a mix, the mix is written down.

度

RESTRAINT

Proportion before decoration. A room needs empty space to feel calm; a piece needs the discipline to stop where it is finished.

久

LONG USE

A useful object is judged over years, not photographs. Repairable joints, maintainable surfaces and stable construction matter more than a first impression.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Homes first.
Then everything else.

The majority of our work is residential: a dining table, a full apartment, a house where every door and cabinet is made to the same drawing set.

Alongside that we make objects and spatial woodwork for cafés, tea rooms, guesthouses, retail and other commercial spaces where the material is part of the atmosphere rather than a backdrop.

For overseas architects, designers and retailers, the practical route is a conversation about the drawings, the species, the finish and the shipping terms — before anything is quoted.
