VERTICALLY INTEGRATED
We are the factory,
not the middleman.
MUYE designs, engineers, machines, assembles, finishes and installs its own solid-wood furniture, cabinetry, doors, screens and spatial pieces. There is no trading layer between the drawing and the board, and no second wood workshop we cannot see.
Our rugs, ceramics, rattan, stone, textiles, lighting and metal objects belong to the curated living collection. They are selected to live beside the woodwork; they are not described as products of this factory.
That structure costs more than sourcing finished goods. It also means a client can ask why a panel was joined a particular way and get an answer from the person who set the machine.
For international projects it means the specification that is agreed is the specification that is built — provided the drawings, species and finish are settled before production.
PROCESS
Six stages,
in one building.
The sequence does not change much between a single chair and a complete apartment. What changes is the drawing set and the number of times a dimension is checked.
Material selection
Boards are chosen for species, moisture content, colour and grain. Alder, iroko, sapele and cherry are our most used timbers; the choice follows the expression the piece needs.
Drawing & engineering
Every piece is drawn to dimensions. For fitted work, openings and walls are measured on site before anything is cut, because a millimetre at the wall becomes a gap at the door.
Machining & joinery
Frames are mortise-and-tenon jointed in solid timber; panels are glued up with allowance for seasonal movement. Joints are structural, not decorative.
Assembly & dry fit
Pieces are assembled and checked before finishing — doors hung, drawers run, frames squared. A fault found here is cheap; found on site, it is not.
Finishing
Surfaces are sanded and finished with hardwax oil, which keeps the grain open to touch and can be re-oiled locally years later instead of being replaced.
Packing & delivery
Delivery and installation are coordinated by our own teams in the cities we serve. For other destinations we pack for transit and work with the freight forwarder appointed for the project.
MATERIALS
The species we
actually work with.
We list what goes through the workshop, not a longer list assembled for a website. Availability of a species for a specific project is confirmed before quotation.
ALDER
Light, close-grained and calm in colour. Used for beds, sofas and pieces where the wood should sit quietly in a room.
IROKO
A dense, warm-toned hardwood used for tables, where wide boards and a strong figure are wanted.
SAPELE
Used across seating and cabinets, with a ribbon-like grain that reads differently depending on the light.

FOR THE TRADE
What we need
to quote properly.
Most delays in custom work come from incomplete information, not from the workshop. For a meaningful quotation we need the drawing or a dimensioned sketch, the intended use, the species and finish direction, the quantity, and the destination.
We do not hold export certifications we have not been audited for, and we will not describe production capacity we cannot document. If a requirement is outside what we can verify, we will say so before you build a schedule around it.

FACTORY VISITS
See the work,
then judge it.
Factory visits in Bishan and showroom visits in five cities can be arranged in advance. For trade enquiries, tell us what you are sourcing.
